AIR MAIL
IMPROVED SERVICES MOOTED United Press Association—By Electrlo Telegraph —Copyright LONDON, April 29. Sir Frederick Williamson, a member of the joint delegation of four representing the Post Office and the Air Ministry, who have been investigating the possibilities of the British Government scheme to run a faster and more frequent air mail service on Empire routes, interviewed on his return from Australia, expressed gratification at the Commonwealth Government’s adherence to the principle of the Imperial air mail scheme, which he still hopes will be operative in 1937, bringing Sydney within seven days of London. Technical negotiations are proceeding between the British and Australian Post Office and Treasury officials. Sir Frederick Williamson hopes that an agreement on outstanding financial problems will be expedited in view of the time needed to proride the new fleet of aircraft necessary to operate high-speed services. The Australian Ministers are apparently awaiting the arrival of Captain Johnston, controller of civil aviation, before raising the matter with the Ministry at Whitehall.
