Unable to escape a willy-willy which tore through the mountain valley in the Cawongla district on the North Coast, Andrew Vidler, aged 22, was crushed to death when a 50 foot tree was uprooted by the wind and fell on him. Vidler saw the willy-willy approaching and ran but was caught arn.id the flying trees. A path 50 yards wide was torn through the tall timber on the mountainside.
