CREDIT BALANCE

MACKENZIE COUNTY FINANCE At the meeting of the Mackenzie County Council yesterday, the treasurer (Mr D. Jeune) stated that for the year ended March 31, the Council’s credit balance was £6038/3/1. The credit balance last year was £9238/9/7. Referring to the fact that the balance was not as large as last year, Mr F. J. Carter said that it had to be remembered that the Council had reduced the rates by 3-16 d in the pound. Mr W. Scott said that another point was that much plant had been purchased during the year. Mr C. J. Taibot pointed out that but for the balance carried over from last year, the financial statement would have shown a debit balance. He moved that the Council should express its satisfaction with the balance-sheet and further that it should compliment the staff for the work done to have the statement ready for the meeting.
