SOUTH ISLAND FUNCTION By Telegraph—Press Association NELSON, March 23. The South Island Air Pageant was held at the Stoke aerodrome in perfect conditions. The attendance was unprecedented for such fixtures in Nelson. Results: — Miss Parkinson (Western Federated) won the cup given by Mr T. Newman, and competed for the first time. She was third in the Boys Cup and fourth in the Cory Wright Cup. The aerobatic competition (open to professional pilots) for which the Marlborough Licensed Victuallers’ Association presented the Cup, was won by Buckeridge (Manawatu). Results:— BLEDISLOE TROPHY, South Island Elimination. Points R. Lucas (Nelson) 198 McSkimming (Otago) 176 Lewis (Canterbury) 141 Lucas is a Nelson College pupil and has been flying only a few months. He will meet in the final J. B. Reid, of Masterton, the winner of 'the North Island elimination. CORY WRIGHT CUP. J. B. Reid (Wairarapa and Ruahine Aero Club), 90 per cent 1 S. R. Duncan (Nelson), 80 per cent, t K. G. Smith (Wellington), 80 per cent t Miss E. Parkinson, who won the senior landing competition at the North Island pageant, was fourth with 75 per cent. The judges remarked that Miss Parkinson’s performance in navigation was outstanding for a woman pilot. BOYS CUP.
