NOVEL COMPETITION

CLEAN MILK BY BAY OF PLENTY ASSOCIATION A milking competition which is believed to be novel in New Zealand, and differing in type from similar competitions held in England and America, is being tried by the Kati Kati Agricultural and Pastoral Society at its forthcoming show. It is felt by the committee that the present time is a particularly appropriate one to arouse local interest in improved shed practice, in view of the new dairy regulation about to be enforced. A cup has been given by Mr W. T. Hyde, vice-president, for the competition, which will be held by the winner for one year. Money prizes will also be forwarded. Good shed practice and cleanliness will be the main features of the competition. Competitors will be required to milk a cow approximately half out by machine and half by hand. A milk machine and all necessary equipment will be provided on the show ground for the purpose.
