VETERANS’ BONUS

APPROVED IN UNITED STATES United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright (Received March 22, 7.35 p.m.) WASHINGTON, March 21. In a surprise move to-day, the inflationists in the House of Representatives brought forward the so-called Patman Bill to pay veterans adjusted compensation certificates not due until 1945, with the issuance of 2,000.000,000 dollars flat currency. The Bill was passed by 202 votes to 191. Another Bill for the immediate payment through Treasury borrowing, is pending in the House of Representatives and votes on it will demand it as an alternative to the Patman Bill. The Administration leaders pointed out that President Roosevelt would veto either measure, but the inflationists showing unexpected strength, pushed through the vote over the protests.
