RELIEF CONDITIONS

STRIKE AS PROTEST By Telegraph—Press Association ROTORUA. March 21. At a well-attended public meeting held in Rotorua last evening a motion was carried calling upon the Government to investigate the conditions under which relief workers were existing in town, and expressing the opinion that the rates paid were insufficient to sustain them while doing hard work. Relief workers present at the meeting unanimously voted to continue the strike, which is at present in progress as a protest against the conditions imposed in connection with work on the aerodrome. The men have demonstrated by marching through the town, but are very orderly and refrained from molesting some of the number in the cuter district, who continued working, The Unemployment Board refused to give the men work unless they return to the aerodrome job, and this they refuse to do on the present rates.
