SAFER ROADS

NEW SPEED LIMITS IN ENGLAND British Official Wireless (Received March 14, 5.5 p.m.) RUGBY, March 13. The Minister of Transport (Mr L. Hore-Belisha) has made an order imposing from March 18, a 30 mile an hour speed limit, provided for in the Road Traffic Act of 1934, on the roads in “built up areas” in the metropolitan areas.

Special police cars, with plan clothes officers will patrol the roads and cooperate with the uniformed and plain clothes police on foot in enforcing the speed limit, and reporting infringements.
