G.B.S. AND TOBACCO
Bernard Shaw is afraid of losing his hair. So he goes to a beauty parlour once a week. “It is the only place in the world where they know how to wash one’s hair,” Mr Shaw said to a newspaper representative. “If I. didn’t make a point of going regularly, I might grow bald, and, that wouldn’t do at all.” Mr Shaw’s confession explains his famous complexion, too. “They titivate me up a trifle as well,” he declared.
You cannot expect good results without taking pains—and this applies to tobacco as much as anything. The exceptional aroma and quality of Red Shield and Blue Shield tobacco, for example, are due to skilful and patient flue-curing of the leaves, and then the scientific “toasting” process, which brings out the goodness of the choice New Zealand tobacco of which they are made.
It’s easy to give yourself the luxury of smoking Red Shield (dark) or Blue Shield (medium). The nearest store has them in 2oz tins at 1/7 or in economical 11b canisters at 11/8
