CALEDONIAN SOCIETY
MEETING OF DIRECTORS Mr R. A. Rodgers presided over a meeting of directors of the South Canterbury Caledonian Society held last evening. The present: Messrs C. E. Hall, J. A. Hay, J. O’Leary, E. J. Fail-brother, R. Oliphant, A. Dunn and H. H, Fraser. On the motion of the chairman it was agreed to write congratulating Mr John Hole on the recent anniversary of his birthday. The secretary of the Timaru Cycling Club wrote acknowledging with thanks the Society’s donation.
The secretary, Timaru Unemployed Workers’ Picnic Committee made application for a donation towards the expenses for its recent picnic. The chairman reported that the Finance Committee had authorised a donation and this action was approved. It was decided to congratulate the Timaru Pipe Band on its performance at the recent contest.
The chairman stated that it had been intimated to him that the Band was willing to put on a display at next New Year’s sports, and if that was so it should be a decided draw.
It was reported that the Pipe Band was in need of pipe chanters and it was unanimously decided to vote the money to purchase one.
