SAILING

LOCAL CHAMPIONSHIP A steady easterly breeze, a moderately smooth sea and glorious sunshine on Saturday combined to make sailing conditions delightful when the South Canterbury Yacht and Power Boats’ Chanipionship series was continued in Caroline Bay. There were seven starters, but Sea Spray retired after running foul of the first buoy and Curlew was disqualified for similar trouble. A protest was raised against Wee May, which finished in second position, it being alleged that she fouled the Sea Spray. The protest was dismissed. Results:— Desiree (2mins), lhr 33mins 18sec . 1 Wee May (scr), lhr 38mins 48sec 2 Kitten (Minins), lhr 40mins 55secs 3 Muri (13mins), lhr 47mins 12sec 4 Alerte (6mins), lhr 50mins 37secs 5
