POLICE CRITICISED

DELAY IN BRINGING A CASE By Telegraph—Press Association OAMARU, December 19. Roy Hunter, aged 24. a well-known footballer here, was fined £7/10 0 this morning for bookmaking. He had been acting as agent for another. Mr H. W. Bundle, S.M., commented adversely on the police action in not bringing the case sooner. The offenc ? was committed on November 10, and he was not satisfied as to the delay. It seemed hardly in order for the police, when Hunter called regarding obtaining a billiard saloon license, to state that they could make no promise but that they might have to bring the matter of a double chart before the Court. A warrant should not be held up indefinitely.
