REGENT THEATRE “ MEN IN WHITE ” “Men In White” dramatisation of life in a modern hospital, will conclude at the Regent to-day. Clark Gable and Myrna Loy head a very strong cast. “ Romance in the Rain ” One of the gayest, cleverest romantic comedies of the year filled with lilting tunes and dazzling girls is “Romance in the Rain,” which will open at the Majestic to-morrow. Roger Pryor, who became a star in “Moonlight and Melody’ is featured in this film, with i Heather Angel, Victor Moore, of the New York stage, Esther Ralston, Ruth Donnelly, Christian Rub and many others. The story deals with a modern Cinderella who wins a contest and loses her heart to the man who gave her the opportunity but was blind to her charm. He goes as far as providing a Prince Charming for her and she rebels. Never has there been such a delightful comedy.
MAJESTIC THEATRE “TARZAN AND HIS MATE” A “set that walks around the camera” was the startling new idea in motion picture technique introduced during the filming of “Tarzan and His Mate,” which is showing at the Majestic, and which again unites Johnny Weismuller, Maureen O’Sullivan and Neil Hamilton] The new picture, based on Edgar Rice Burroughs’ jungle thrillers, continues the adventures of the jungle man and
his sweetheart in the mysterious land of the “Elephant’s Graveyard.” Paul Cavanaugh, Forrester Harvey, Doris Lloyd. William Stack, Do;smond Roberts and Nathan Curry are in the cast. “The Great Defender” Outstanding and really “different” screen entertainment is offered in “The Great Defender,” the sensational drama of love—and the law courts, which comes to the Majestic to-morrow. Cleverly woven around a great counsel, Sir Douglas Rolls, K.C., a role brilliantly portrayed by that splendid dramatic star Matheson Lang, “The Great Defender” tells the story of Rolls’ last and most sensational case—the trial of Leslie Locke, A.R.A.. charged with the murder of his beautiful model, Phyllis Ware. “ Blossom Time ’* “Blossom Time” is to commence on Friday. The production is notable in every respect and introduces in Richard Tauber, the world-renowned tenor, an actor of marked screen ability. Georgeously spectacular staging, excellent recording and photography, sympathetic direction and effective portrayals combine to produce firstgrade entertainment in a film which should prove an outstanding box-office attraction. It reflects the greatest credit on all those concerned in its production and presentation, and is obviously destined still further to increase the prestige of British films.
