ST. ANDREWS

CHRISTMAS PARTY The annual Christmas party given by the St. Andrews Women's Institute was held in the Public Hall, St. Andrews, on Saturday afternoon. There was a very large attendance of both children and adults. The proceedings opened with a spectacular pantomime written by Mrs W. E. Mills and entitled “Hanky Panky Land.’’ The pantomime was complete with clowns, witch, fairy queen, a king and a queen, and a large cast, and it included many topical songs, choruses and dances. The staging and costumes were complete in every detail, and the presentation was well received. The cast was as follows: Old woman, Mrs J. F. Turpie; principal boy, Miss D. Bell; cat, Miss C. Midgley, fairy bluebell, Miss Betty’ Midgley; clowns, Misses G. and E. Porter; king. Miss C. Bell; queen, Miss M. Gray; dog. Miss M. Hutton; witch, Miss Eva Dash; page, Miss M, Milliken; king’s bodyguard, Miss Joy Bennett, Miss J. Coles, Miss P. Kane, Miss M, Wilkie, Miss M, Copland and Miss J. Wilkie; dancers, Miss Orma Ford, Miss Aileen Glassey, and Miss M. Woods, The play was produced by Mrs W. E. Mills and Mrs H. L. Wimsett directed the music. “Father Christmas” was heralded and he produced a heavily laden and nicely decorated Christmas tree from w'Vch he took a present for every child present. The afternoon closed with three cheers for “Father Christmas.”
