The conditions of the remarkable will of the late Peter Stuckey Mitchell, are being brought to the notice of the New South Wales Parliament. Mitchell, who was a wealthy grazier, died ten years ago: He bequeathed nearly £250,000 for the physical improvement of the Australian race by means of yearly contests limited to ten males and fifteen females. The main test for males will be: Physical fitness, honourable fulfilment of military obligations, ability to swim, ride horses, and is restricted to youths under 21 years. The females must have a knowledge of nursing and be capable of producing and rearing healthy babies. Both sexes must possess intellect, have a good understanding of the climatic and geographical conditions of Australia, also British literature and specific portions of the Bible.
