UNREST IN THE SAAR
COMMISSIONER’S APPEAL TO LEAGUE United Press Association-By Electric Telegraph— Copyright GENEVA, November 16. “The economic situation in the Saar is daily becoming worse,” says a petition from the Saar Chamber of Commerce, submitted at Geneva by Mr G. G. Knox. The petition emphasises the grave difficulties being experienced in the French-German clearing arrangements. Many French firms have refused to grant further credit to Saar customers. The Governing Commission’s accompanying Note states that it has made every effort to retain foreign confidence in the Saar, and adds that a dangerous situation can be averted only if foreign investors can be assured of stable government in the territory.
