WOODBURY
CRICKET CLUB FORMED A meeting presided over by Mr H. Cooling - was held in the Sunday School room on Wednesday night to consider the formation of a cricket club. There was a very good attendance and those present unanimously decided to form a club. The following officers were elected; President, Mr H. Cooling; vice-presidents, Mesdames Turton and Burdon and Messrs Drummond Sharpe, R. M. Burdon, R. A. Dixon. F. Flatman, W. Tait and the Rev. Canon Coursey; club captain, Mr A. Sharpe; treasurer, Mr S. C. Chisnall; secretary, Mr L. Brown. All club members to be committeemen. Subscriptions were fixed at 5/- for seniors and 2/6 for juniors. The opening practice will be held at an early date. The meeting decided that the secretary write to the Domain Board asking it to have the outfield mown; members of the club to prepare and keep the wicket in order. GENERAL It was decided at a meeting of the Woodbury School Committee on Tuesday night that the senior pupils of the school attend the Timaru celebrations in connection with the Duke of Gloucester’s visit on January 10. Miss Lyons, assistant mistress at Woodbury is at present relieving at Orari Bridge. Mrs Quigley the mistress being on sick leave. There has been a good deal of sickness in Woodbury lately and many people have been confined to bed.
