INDUSTRIAL UNITS

SCHEME FOR CO-ORDINATION By Telegraph—Press Association WELLINGTON, November 15. At the conference of the New Zealand Manufacturers a proposal was made that the Manufacturers’ Organisation should adopt a definite scheme to facilitate the co-ordination of industrial units and promote still greater efficiency than that hitherto attained in manufacturing industries as a whole. After a prolonged discussion, the principle was adopted unanimously, and the scheme was referred to the Federation Council for completion and action, to put into effect. ‘T believe this is the most important decision that has ever been made in the hsitory of manufacturing industries in this Dominion,” said the president. Among other matters dealt with was a claim that the Government, in view of the improved finances, should now carry out the undertaking given at Ottawa to remove the primage duty from all goods imported from the United Kingdom. Mr J. Hogg (Dunedin) was elected president of the Federation for the forthcoming year.
