That the twentieth anniversary of the landing of the New Zealand troops at Gallipoli should be marked on April 25 of next year by the . issue of a commemorative stamp, was a suggestion made by the secretary, Mr Ferens, at a meeting of the Dunedin R.S.A. Mr Ferens said that he felt that the rising generation did not realise the significance of the part New Zealand took in the Great War. At present many of the men were breaking down as a result of the strain to which they had been subjected and the issue of such a stamp might perhaps draw public attention to what was due to them. The suggestion was favourably received by members and it was decided to forward it on to headquarters.
