POLAR FLIGHT

BAD LUCK DOGS LINCOLN ELLSWORTH United Press Association—By Electrlo Telegraph—Copyright (Received November 1, 8.15 pm.) NEW YORK, October 31. Lincoln Ellsworth reports from Deception Island that the engine of his aeroplane, the Polar Star, has broken down, and the essential spare part is missing. A connecting rod broke when the engine was started.

The only chance of starting the Antarctic flight lies in the possibility of the Wyatt Earp reaching Magallanes, Chile, obtaining a rod, and returning in time to find a suitable takeoff field within three weeks.
