FAREWELL PARTY

Mrs H. W. Monaghan, president of St. Mary’s Guild was hostess at a delightful party at the Vicarage given by members of the Guild in honour of Mrs C. S. Hammond who left yesterday to make her home in Christchurch. The rooms were artistically arranged with bowls of ranunculi of every shade. On behalf of the Guild members Mrs Monaghan presented Mrs Hammond with a beautiful pair of candlesticks and an exquisite bouquet of lilies of* the valley. She thanked Mrs Hammond for her work in the Guild and wished her happiness in Christchurch. A most amusing competition was held, the winners being Mrs Revell, Mrs Neilson and Mrs Smith. Miss Myra Bassett entertained with many pianoforte solos. Mrs Monaghan wore a graceful frock of green crepe de chene, and Mrs Hammond’s frock was of blue and white spotted crepe de chene worn with a blue straw hat. The guests included 'Mrs George Bowker, Miss Revell, Mrs W. Priest, Mrs Beckingham, Mrs Bryan King, Mrs Neilson, Mrs Wallace. Mrs Jacquiary, Mrs Smith, Mrs R. W. Simpson, Mrs Revell, Mrs Davidson, Mrs Gow, Misses Hassell, Fussell, McLaren. Knubley, Oakey.
