CHARITABLE BEQUESTS
WILL OF MR E. V. RIDDIFORD By Telpgraph— Press Association WELLINGTON, October 31. The estate of Mr Edward Vivian Riddiford, of “Glenbum” and “Tablelands,” has been sworn for probate purposes at under £600,000. Mr Riddiford. who was well known throughout the Dominion, both as a pastoraiist and racehorse owner and breeder and as a citizen who played a prominent part in the social life of the community, died suddenly at sea on October 11 when returning from a trip to England, accompanied by his wife and daughter. His will, which has just been made public by his solicitors, enhances his reputation for generosity. Besides number of legacies to relatives and to employees, it includes the following charitable bequests.—
Wellington Convalescent Home at Oriental Bay 5000 Wellington Diocesan Board of Trustees for the Anglican Boys’ Home at Lower Hufct.. 1000 Wellington Diocesan Board of Trustees for the benefit of the Parish of St. James, Lower Hutt 1000 Wanganui Collegiate School .. 1000 Wellington Diocesan Board of Trustees for the benefit of St. Mary’s Home at Karori .. .. 500 Wellington Diocesan Board of Trustees for the benefit of St. Barnabas Babies’ Home at Wadestown 1000 Wellington Boys’ Institute and S. A. Rhodes Home for Boys 500 Wellington Club 500 Wellington Golf Club, Heretaunga 500 The balance of the estate goes to his widow and to his two daughters, Mrs J. E. T. Vogel and Miss Pamela Riddiford.
