MACKENZIE GUN CLUB ANNUAL SMOKE CONCERT | The annual smoke concert of the Mackenzie Gun Club was held in the Parish Hall on Saturday night. Mr K. Anderson, club captain, presided in the absence of the president, Mr H. Collins. The usual toasts were honoured and reference was made to the very sue- j cessful season experienced and good , sport provided by the courtesy of the several landowners on whose property shoots had been held. Opportunity was j taken to make a presentation to the ! secretary, Mr J. P. Cunneen in appre- I elation of the good work he had done j for the club. In making the presenta- j tion, Mr Alister Mackenzie said the ; Club were fortunate in having such an j enthusiastic secretary and paid a j tribute to his services to the club, j During the evening items were given by Messrs J. Dick, T. Creighton, Jas. O’Neill, F. Geaney and T. Mayne. j i W.D.F.U. Mrs Keenan presided over the monthly meeting of the Fairlie W.D.F.U. Motions of sympathy were passed with Mrs Moran and Mrs Dore j in their bereavements. The secretary j reported that Miss Blandford would j address members of the W.D.F.U. and j W.I. next month. The Cannington ; branch extended an invitation to j members to attend its next meeting. ! Mrs Searle demonstrated the arranging of flowers, and Mr C. D. Gilling gave a very interesting talk on hydatids. Both speakers were accorded a vote of thanks. KIMBELL WOMEN’S INSTITUTE | Mrs Keenan presided at the October j meeting of the Kimbell W.I. which was J held in picnic form as the school was j being repainted. Letters of congratu- | lation to the Kimbell Choir were read. An invitation was received from Fairlie to attend a lecture by Miss Blandford. An interesting travel talk illustrated by photos, was given by Mrs Sadler. Mrs Breen and Mrs Keenan demonstrated the making of raw wool rugs and curing skins, and each was accorded a vote of thanks.
