REBATE OBTAINED BY FRAUD By Telegraph - Pres, Association AUCKLAND, October 30. The trial of four men on charges of conspiring to obtain from the Post Office refunds of petrol tax to which they were not entitled, was concluded before Mr Justice Herdman in the Supreme Court. The accused were Charles Joseph de Luca, a grocer, Raymond Brim ton, a fisherman, John Buchan, a labourer and Leslie Collier Buchan, a storeman. Against De Luca there were two charges of false pretences and five of conspiracy to obtain money by deceit and against the others various charges of conspiracv. De Luca was found guilty on two charges of obtaining money by falsely representing that he had supplied certain petrol, and Brunton and the Buchans were discharged. De Luca was remanded for sentence.
