AMERICA’S HOSTS OF WORKLESS

VAST SUMS PAID FOR RELIEF United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright (Received October 29, 7.0 p.m.) WASHINGTON, October 28. Mr William Green, president of the American Federation of Labour, asserted that more men are without jobs than a year ago, despite the efforts of the Federal Administration. He said that although the Government’s monthly relief payment for 2,229,000 persons was 95,000,000 dollars, the expenditure was “not creating” income to pay their cost. Mr Green urged President Roosevelt to invite all industries to co-operate in a general programme to increase production and create jobs.
