GERALDINE

PAVILION AT NEW GOLF LINKS PLANS APPROVED Good progress is being made with the laying-out of the Geraldine District Golf Club’s new links on the Orari Road. Portion of the proposed greens has been top-dressed, and the greens fenced, and the new grass is coming away well. Labour is at present engaged in increasing the diameter of the greens, an additional fifteen feet all round being added. The rough grass on the fairways has been burnt off, and the fairways are now lookingin splendid condition. The president (Mr G. N. Feilden) and the members of the Pavilion Committee recently inspected sites for the new pavilion, and a suitable position has been selected, and the building, which will face the north, will be erected near the entrance to the course. The work of erecting the building, which will be considerably larger than the present pavilion at the Geraldine Downs, will be commenced early in January. The plans provide for a three-roomed structure, with a kitchen fitted with the necessary electric water heating and other appliances. From a verandah, 22ft by 10ft, the hall will lead on one side to the men’s room, which will be 17ft by 10ft, and to the women’s rooms, 12ft by 10ft, on the other side. The kitchen will be of the same size as the ladies’ room. At the rear of the pavilion a brush fence will be erected on the two sides, and back to the boundary fence. Shrubs will oe planted in the vicinity of the pavilion, and, when the work is completed, the lay-out should present a most pleasing aspect.
