An allegation that he had obtained sums totalling £95 from David Lynn' Thompson, an elderly retired gardener, by falsely representing that he held a ticket that had won £IO,OOO in an Irish sweep was upheld by a Supreme Court jury to-day. when five charges were i made against George Paul Zackey, a ; salesman, aged 46. Zackey was .remanded for sentence. For the defence, Mr Evan Parry made a legal submission that the prosecution had put forward no evidence that Zackey had actually not won a prize in the sweep. “I think there is all the evidence in the world,” said Hs Honour, in overruling the objection. After the jury had returned its verdict, Mr Parry asked for the question of law he had raised to be reserved for decision by the Court of Appeal.
