THE CHURCHES

TO-MORROW’S SERVICES Young People’s Day will be observed at Trinity Presbyterian Church, when the preacher will be the Rev. A. J. H. Dow. The morning service will be specially for children, and the evening service for Bible Class members. The services in the Timaru Methodist Churches will be as follows:—The Rev. J. D. McArthur will preach at Bank Street. At Woodlands Street the Revs. H. L. Fiebig and W. Jenkin will conduct the services. Rev. W. Jenkin at 11 a.m., and Mr E. J. Thompson at 6.30 p.m. will be the preachers at Kensington. The Waimataitai services will be taken by Mr J. E. Chiles at 11 a.m., and the Rev. H. L. Fiebig at 6.30 p.m.

The services at Chalmers Presbyterian Church will be conducted by the Rev. Llywelyn Williams in the morning, when his subject will be “Reflecting the Mind of Jesus.” In the evening the Rev. J. L. Gray of India will speak on “Some India Problems.” Colonel Hamilton, of Wellington, will conduct the services at the Salvation Army. A Holiness Covenant Service will be held at 11 a.m. A talk on pioneering days in Japan will be given at 3 o’clock and a musicians’ service at 7 o’clock. The Municipal Band will parade at 6.30 p.m. The services in St. Mary’s Parish will be as follows: Holy Communion will be celebrated at St. Mary’s and St. John’s at 8 a.m. and at St. Michael’s and All Saints’ at 9.30 a.m. There will be Matins at St. Mary’s at 11 a.m. and Family Service at St. John’s and St. Peter’s at 11 a.m. Evensong will be sung at Washdyke at 2.30 p.m. and at St. Mary’s. St. John’s, St. Peter’s and All Saints’ at 6.30 p.m. The services in the Congregational Church, North Street, wil be conducted by the Rev. J. Milburn Stewart. In the evening a memorial service will be held to the memory of Earnest E. Firkin. At the morning service in St. Paul's the preacher will be Rev. J. L. Gray, missionary on furlough from India. The subject at the evening service, to be conducted by Rev. J. Baird, will be “sweet memories.” A Baptismal Service will be held at the Baptist church to-morrow evening. The Rev. J. Russell Grave will preach on “Recruits for King Jesus.” At the morning service, Mr Grave will preach on “Foundations.”
