FAREWELL PARTY
The members of the Sacred Heart Choir met to say farewell to Miss Mary Martin, who is leaving Timaru for Christchurch. The evening was held at the residence of Mrs N. D. Mangos, and was attended by members of the choir and friends of Miss Martin’s. The Rev. Father Murphy, patron of the choir, in presenting Miss Martin with a handbag, recalled the fact that she had been several years with the choir, r.s well as a valuable worker in the Church, and wished her everything of the best in her new home. During the evening vocal items were given by Mesdames Blackham and Clemens, Misses Lynch and Fountaine, and Messrs Durning and Daly. Mrs N. D. Mangos played a pianoforte solo, and Miss M. Blandford gave two recitations. Supper and community singing brought a happy evening to a close.
Among those present were Mesdames N. D. Mangos. Martin. Clemens, Blackham, Misses Lynch, Collins, Blandford, O’Halloran, Fountaine. Martin, Todd, Mangos, Messrs C. Durning, W. Durning, O’Leary, Daly, Jefferson, Martin, Conroy and the Rev. Father Murphy.
