The township faces an alarming position. The Maequarrie River is still rising dangerously. The gasworks are flooded, and a failure of gas is expected. Large numbers of stock have been drowned, and crops ruined. Water entered the townships of Orange Parkes and Gundagai. At Queenbeyan, near Canberra, the main streets are flooded to a depth of two feet. Heavy losses of newly-shorn sheep are reported in this district. FLOOD POSITION STILL DANGEROUS OVERFLOWING OF RIVERS United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright (Received October 26, 11.30 p.m.) SYDNEY, October 26. The flood position in the western and southern districts of New South Wales is still very serious. Bathurst, Parkes and Dubbo report that miles of country are destroyed. A dance party of 50 people has been marooned at a small village outside Dubbo since Wednesday night, and have been unable to reach their homes.

The Murrumbidgee River at Wagga is expected to overflow its banks any minute and the inhabitants have evacuated their homes within the danger zone.

Farm lands at Tumut are under water, and people are being rescued by boats.
