WARREN PENNY LEAVES FOR UNITED STATES.

The young Sydney airman, Warren Penny, is aboard the Mariposa on his way to the United States, where he will buy a Vultes aeroplane for the Melbourne centenary air race, handicap section.

Sir Charles Kingsford Smith tried out his Lockheed Altair ’plane to-day, and he admitted that he attained a speed of 185 miles an hour. He intends to fly to England, which he says is cheaper than sending the machine by steamer.
