HIGH COMMISSIONER’S REPORT
The Department of Agriculture has received the following message, dated July 21, from the High Commissioner for New Zealand, London:— Tallow No auction this week. Spot business continues in good colour sorts. Low grades neglected. Vaiues about unchanged. Hemp Manila: Market quiet but steady with values unchanged. Sisal: Market dull and easier at. 3 lower prices. July-September and August-October shipments sold at £l4/7/6. New Zealand: Market dull with no: first hand sales reported. Apples Cargoes of Trojan Star at Avonmouth and Turakina at Manchester in: good condition except for Statesman which are partly wasty. Steady demand. Current prices are:—Dunn’s Favourite, 7/- to 9/-; Rome Beauty, 9/- to 9/6; Delicious, 8/- to 10/6; Ballarat, 10 6 to 11/-; Dougherty, 10/- to 13/-; Granny Smith, 12/- to 17/6; Statesman, 9/- to 12'-; Sturmer, Yates, Tasma and Rokewood, 10/- to 12/-. DAIRY PRODUCE. The South Island Dairy Association Ltd. has received the following market report from the New Zealand Produce Association, Ltd., London:— ‘ Butter—Steady, finest 77/-; firsts 75/-, Danish 88/-. Cheese —Steady, white 49/6, coloured 46/- to 46/6. The N.Z. Loan and Mercantile Agency Co.. Ltd., have received the following advice from their London house:— Butter—77/-, 78'-. Cheese—49/-, 49/6 (white); 46/-, 46/6 (coloured). AUSTRALIAN MARKETS. United Press Association—By Electric -’elegrapL— Copyright (Received July 26. 8.25 p.m.) SYDNEY. July 26. Wheat—Bulk, ex trucks, Sydney, is quoted at 3/13 a bushel, and bagged at 3/25. Flour—£B 15s a ton. Bran—£4 5s a ton. Pollard—£4 15s a ton. Potatoes—Tasmanian, £9 10s a ton; Victorian, £8 10s. Onions—Victorian Brown Spanish. £8 10s a ton. Maize—Yellow 3/1 a bushel, white 3/4. ADELAIDE. July 26 Wheat—Growers’ lots. 2/10 a bushel. Flour—Bakers’ lots, £8 15s a ton. Bran —£5 5s a ton.
