CONTROL OF IMPORTS

IMPOSING MEAT RESTRICTIONS United Press Association—By Electric 'Telegraph—Copyright LONDON, July 23. It is at present intended to enforce the meat import restrictions in September. A Departmental Committee is preparing shipping schedules allocating the Dominions and the Argentine’s exports. The Sun-Herald News Service understands that these are based approximately on the Ottawa figures. Accordingly, Australian exports are unlikely to be drastically curtailed because her exports have not greatly exceeded the Ottawa figures. However, New Zealand’s exports are enormously in excess of the Ottawa figures, particularly in mutton and lamb. It is expected that New Zealand will be the principal Dominions’ sufferer. Under Mr Elliott’s restrictions, export, in some cases, may be halved.
