SURPRISE PARTY On Saturday evening a surprise party visited the home of Mr and Mrs A. Wallace to bid farewell to Mr J. Wallace, who has since left the district to take up a position in the Land and Income Tax Department, Wellington. Mr and Mrs Wallace gave the visitors a hearty welcome, and a very pleasant time was spent playing cards, community singing and games. During the supper interval, Mr Don Munro, on behalf of the visitors, presented Mr J. Wallace with a silver Ever-sharp pencil, and wished him every success in his new position. Messrs A. and J. Wallace replied. Those present were: Mr and Mrs A. Wallace, Mr and Mrs Brice, Mr and Mrs T. Guthrie, Mrs Weenink, Mr and Mrs J. A. Munro, Mr and Mrs R. G. A, Munro, Misses Coote (2), Pratt (2), Munro (3), M. Longman, and G. Brice, and Messrs W. Longman, Don Munro, V. Koeps, J. Wallace, B. Wallace, H. Weenink and C. Rich. When leaving J. R. Bruce and Co., Mr Wallace was presented with a leather wallet from his fellow work mates.
