ARRANGEMENTS FOR JUBILEE A general meeting of ex-pupils of the Main School was held on Monday, when arrangements for the celebration of the school’s Diamond Jubilee were further advanced. The president, Mj C. E. Kerr, stated that about 2500 circulars had been posted to old pupils and numerous most satisfactory replies, evincing keen interest in the jubilee had been received. Decade b&dges, with different colours for the various decades, had been printed. Jubilee buttons, showing a photograph of the school, were now in hand for distribution. The button, stated the chairman, is a fine work of art and displays the school colours, the photograph being enclosed in a frame. A weekly euchre tournament and dance was being held, and with dancing competitions, the dunces were becoming most popular. On last Wednesday evening there was an attendance of over 150. On Tuesday : v.xt a masquerade dance was being held at the Ritz and patrons were being supplied with masks. Tha Entertainment Committee were deserving of their thanks for the good work they were doing. A most enjoyable variety entertainment was held in the Scottish Hall and the funds hud been assisted as a result of it. An art union was being held and the books had just come to hand. The tickets were only sixpence and good prizes were offered, the first being alluvial gold to the value of £5, the second a framed art picture, and the third a metal fire screen. Various matters were discussed and a number of suggestions noted. It Was agreed to approach the Railway Department with a view to concessions for visitors attending the jubilee.
