’PLANE CASTAWAYS

SURVIVORS TELL REMARKABLE STORY. BUENOS AIRES, June 14. Five survivors of an air liner crash, who have been brought here for treatment, tell a remarkable story. Leaving Santiago (Chile) early yesterday, the plane crossed the Andes and survived a storm on the eastern side of the mountains, but became unmanageable while crossing the lake called Chiquita Lagoon, in Buenos Aires Province, and crashed from a height of 500 feet. Both pilots were killed on the spot, and three others died later. The survivors, including a nephew of the President of Chile and two travellers from Los Angeles, clung to the wings for three hours before they were rescued. Two wealthy young Chilean women were seated side by side in the plane. One was killed, while the other escaped almost unharmed.
