Counting bees by wireless is the practice of American apiarists. A microphone is installed at the entrance to the hive, and as each bee crosses the threshold it picks up its buzz and transfers the sound to an automatic counting device.
Blewbury, a Berkshire village reputed to have a larger percentage of spinsters than any other village in England, has recorded a unanimous vote against the proposal to have street lamps, on the ground that it would drive away courting couples.
