DOMESTIC STOCKTAKING
REJUVENATE YOUR LINENS. A well-stocked linen cupboard Is a joy for ever, but even the best of linens wear in time, or at least lose their first freshness. The white embroidered afternoon tea-cloth, for Instance. It was very attractive when it was new, but now it looks somewhat wan. White is no longer very fashionable either for after tea-cloths or for table mats. Cloths of embroidery anglaise look extraordinarily nice In colours, too.- For all of these, then, a dip in pale amber tea dye, or a darker one of coffee, is a splendid thing. It is best, if the cloth is a good one, not to attempt home dyeing. You can have it dyed by experienced hands into fast and beautiful colours very cheaply. And then, ot course, there is opened up to you a vista of delight and daintiness. Those bedroom sheets, quite good but a little grey with repeated washing, can spring into new life, blossom out in pink or green or any shade to match your room. Towels and bath mats cheer up marvellously on closer acquaintance with the dye tub. Your whole home can be brightened wonderfully and inexpensively by a little colour scheming in collaboration with dye.
