G.B.S. AT HOME
TALK ON TESTS AND OTHER TOPICS. Unite' 7 Press Association—By Electrlo Telegraph —Copyright LONDON, May 17. Mr Bernard Shaw, who arrived by the Rangitane, in response to journalists’ invitation to express his opinion on the Test matches, said: “They are ridiculous things, which will break up the Empire. They induce antagonism and rivalry, and distract people’s serious attention from politics. Everywhere you go in most parts of the world, you see grown-ups and children kicking a football. You never see it in New Zealand, which is proof of the enlightenment of New Zealand, where the people are more civilised, better looking, and better mannered than in England. I found intense loyalty in New Zealand to the Empire. I don’t blame them wanting all they can get.”
