ABDUCTION CHARGE

YOUNG MAN COMMITTED FOR SENTENCE. By Telegraph—Press Association NEW PLYMOUTH, May 16. The abduction of a girl aged a few days over 16 was admitted by a halfcaste Maori farm worker, John Southorn, aged 23, who was remanded on bail for sentence. Southorn was working for the girl’s parents. Evidence was given that a mutual infatuation arose and after the girl passed the age of 16 they ran away to Stratford where they tried to marry but could not obtain a license.
