GYMKHANA AT BLUECLIFFS

An innovation in the way of entertainment was experienced yesterday by a number of fortunate young people when they were invited by Dr and Mrs P. R. Woodhouse to attend a gymkhana at their beautiful home, Bluecliffs. Fortunately the weather which was very cold in the morning improved during the day and the children and their ponies had a very happy time. After luncheon, which was served in the fields, the many events were got off and as the riders all managed their ponies very cleverly, Mrs J. H. Grigg and Mr Herbert Elworthy who acted as judges had a strenuous time placing the winners.

Those present were Misses Paulette and Carne Rhodes and Master Heaton Rhodes and Misses Penelope, Pauline and Phillipa Barker (Four Peaks', Pam Orbell, Janet Grigg (Longbeach), Richard Ford, Michael and Timoth' Rattray and David Gould (Christchurch), who were among Mrs Woodhouse’s house party and Jessica and Betty Howell, Margaret and Benita Mathias, Gillian and Christopher Ulrich and Molly Orbell.
