WEDDING

FERRIER—GR ANT. A wedding which created much kindly interest took place at St. Mary s Church yesterday afternoon, when John Lowe, third son of the late Mr W. Ferrier and of Mrs Ferrier, Oamaru, and formerly of Timaru. was married by the Rev. J. Evans to Nancy Gladys, eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs W. R. Grant, Grant’s Road. The church which had been beautifully decorated by girl friends of the bride was a mass of shaded chrysanthemums and autumn leaves, while on the altar were pale pink chrysanthemums. Mr A. W. Vine presided at the organ. The bride, who was given away by her father, looked charming in a gown of ivory ripple satin, moulded to the figure. The long tightfitting skirt, fully flared to the hem, was finished with a tiny knife pleated frill and showed a wide panel at the back which deepened into a! short train. The bodice was made with the fashionable cowl sleeves and the neck was finished with a tiny roll collar the ends of which were threaded through a diamante buckle. Her long embroidered tulle veil fell the length of the frock ar.d was worn with a halo of orange blossoms. Her sheaf of white chrysanthemums made a very effective finish. The bridesmaids, Miss Edna Grant, sister of the bride and the bridegroom’s sister, Miss Kitty Ferrier, were dressed alike in longs’eeved Princess frocks of japonica ring velvet. The long flowing skirts deepened at the back to give a train like effect, and the necks of the bodices were outlined with a flat ruching of velvet which tied at the back in small bows. Their small halo hats of pink felt toned with their frocks and they wore fillagree and pearl necklaces the gifts of the bridegroom. Pink begonias and heliotrope scabias composed their bouquets. Mr W. Allport was best man and Mr F. J. Robertson was groomsman. Messrs J. Lamb and D. Grant acted as ushers. After the ceremony a reception was held at the Bay tea-rooms where Mr and Mrs Grant received their friends.

The hall was decorated wffh greenery and autumn leaves and Mr tea tables with shaded chrysanthemums. Mrs Grant received her guests wearing a frock of wine-berry silk marocain. The square necked bodice was finished in front with a cascade of pleated mushroom tinted georgette frills and her hat of the same colour as her frock was trimmed with a mushroom and wineberry band. Her threequarter length swagger coat was of winebcrry Bedford cord and she carried a bouquet of shaded anemones. Mrs Ferrier, Oamaru, mother of the bridegroom, wore a frock of black celanese relieved with white, a black tagel straw hat and a coat of black cloth. Her bouquet was composed of rosebuds and carnations. Miss Ina Grant, sister of the bride, wore a brown and white woollen frock with a brown hat. Miss Ella Grant, sister of the bride, was in a suit of Lincoln green cloth, the hip length coat being banded with fur. Her hat was of green felt and she wore a shoulder spray of chrysanthemums. Miss Eva Ferrier, sister of the bridegroom wore a brown tailored costume with a hat to match. Mrs H. G. Ferrier, Ashburton, wore a mulberry coat with musquash collar a mulberry felt hat. When the bride and bridegroom left on their honeymoon. the former travelled in a becoming suit of lido blue afgalane, worn with a blue and white spotted wool marocain blouse tied at the neck with a small bow, a blue felt hat with a white buckle and a skunk necklet, the gift cf the bridegroom.
