The first match of the Australian tour opened to-day, against Worcestershire, the following teams participating:— Worcestershire: C. F. Walters, B. W. Quaife, The Nawab of Pataudi, R. Howarth, H. H. Gibbons, M. Nichol, S- H. Martin, G. W. Brook, P. F. Jackson, R. T. D. Perks, C. H. Bull. Australia: W. M. Woodful (captain), D. G. Bradman, W. H. Ponsford, A. F. Kippax, S. J. McCabe, W, J. O'Reilly, C. V. Grimmett, H. Eveling, E. Bromley, W. A. Oldfield, T. W. Wall. A perfect example of a benign English spring day greeted the Australian touring team. The wicket appeared to be true and easy, and the outfield much faster than what it normally is at the beginning of the season. Worcestershire are batting and have lost two wickets for 52 runs. The scores are:— WORCESTERSHIRE. First Innings. Walters, not out 23 Gibbons, b H. Ebeling 0 Nawab of Pataudi, run out 14 Nichols, not out 6 Extras .. 4 Total for two wickets .. .. 52 (Received May 3, 1.15 a.m.) LONDON, May 2. At the luncheon adjournment Worcestershire had lost five wickets for 63 runs.
