RELIEF OF DISTRESS
GRANT OF £IOOO. By Telegraoh—Press Association CHRISTCHURCH, May 2. The Lyttelton Harbour Board decided to-day to give £IOOO for the relief of distress in the city and surrounding districts this winter. The grant, which is the same amount as that given by the Board last year, will be divided into two sections of £SOO each. One will go to the fund being raised by the Canterbu.y Progress League, and the other amount will be distributed in districts in the Board’s representation area as decided by a special committee of the Board.
