TIMELY DISCOVERY
WOMAN’S LIFE SAVED. By Telegraph—Press Association WELLINGTON, May 2. Short after 9 o’clock to-night two young women hired a taxi to go to a house in College Street. On arrival there one of them went inside only to rush out a few minutes later saying that the house was full of gas and that a girl had gassed herself in one of the rooms. The driver sent the two women for the police and he himself entered the house, where he found a young woman lying on the floor of the kitchen with her head in the gas oven. Dragging the unconscious woman outside he attempted artificial respiration, and after 20 minutes she showed slight signs of consciousness. The ambulance was sent for and she was admitted to hospital. It is understood that her life is not in danger. The woman is believed to be a resident of Motueka.
