Answering a Parliamentary question regarding present conditions in Newfoundland, Mr J. H. Thomas (Secretary for Dominion Affairs) said that the Commisioners had not yet had time to submit any considered general report, but since the new Government in Newfoundland took office, they had recommended the expenditure of 400,000 dollars on able-bodied relief in the current financial year, in addition to 1,000,000 dollars already incurred, also a further 10,000 dollars a month for relief in districts where no vegetables are available. Both proposals had been approved.
