TREATMENT OF CANCER
A GREAT ADVANCE CLAIMED. By Telegraph—Press Association AUCKLAND, April 25. Great advances in the treatment of cancer, especially by radio-therapy were revealed at the Australian Cancer Conference, according to the New Zealand delegates who returned last night. “We have gained not only Instruction but increasing confidence,” said Dr J. S. Elliott, of Wellington. “The combined method of surgery and radio-therapy offers now a method of treatment successful beyond the most sanguine expectations of the last few years. If only people would come early for treatment the death-rate from cancer, with present day surgical and radio-therapeutic treatment, could be lessened, perhaps, by half.”
