Fifty thousand Italians are now reclaiming swamp wasteland at the rate of 80,000 acres yearly, with a view to making Italy self-supporting, through the increase of small holdings, ranging from 60 to 100 acres apiece. When Signor Mussolini came into office he found the ruralists trekking townwards. He has not only stopped the movement, but has placed 1,000,000 new men on the land.
