FLOOD MENACE IN INDIA

FEARS IN STRICKEN CENTRES BOLD MEASURES TO COUNTER MONSOON United Press Association —By Electric Telegraph—Copyright (Received March 27, 5.5 p.m.) CALCUTTA. March 26. The likelihood of floods during the coming monsoon, owing to the changed land levels due to the earthquake, is a new menace to the homeless thousands in the stricken areas of Bihar. Large rivers have changed their courses, and it is expected that vast areas, including many towns and villages hitherto free from flooding, will be completely submerged. Meanwhile the Government is building hundreds of boats to maintain touch with areas in the Tirkut district, when the rains begin in July.
