A CHRISTMAS PARTY
On Thursday evening the Bank Street Ladies’ Guild completed their year's work with a very successful Christmas party. Wesley Hall was artistically decorated with red and green streamers, and holly branches with their scarlet red berries gave? a very gay and pretty setting. A very enjoyable programme of music, carols and games was arranged. Mr G. Griffiths delighted the guests with his conjuring performance. After a bountiful supper had been dispensed, the president (Mrs J. W. Holdgate) announced the result of the “gift bags” and thanked those who had shown their interest in this practical manner, which would add a very substantial amount to the Guild funds. A large Christmas cake was presented to the Guild and this was cut by the president and handed round. During the evening the Rev. J. D. McArthur spoke of the very faithful service rendered for the last six years by the secretary, and, on behalf of the Guild members, handed to Mrs R. R. McAlister a sliver teapot. Mrs McAlister replied thanking the members for their gift and referring to the happy spirit prevailing in the Guild making the work a labour of love. As one large family the Guild worked together for the spiritual, social and financial uplift of Bank Street Methodist Church. Those assisting with the musical programme were Mrs A. Symonds, Miss Marjorie Ellis and Masters P. Abraham and T. Neilson.
